Electric skateboards provide a fun and unique way to travel. While many people think that you can only do tricks on traditional skateboards, this isn’t the case – electric skateboards are just as versatile, But what if you’ve never ridden one before and don’t know where to start? This guide will teach you how to do basic tricks on an electric skateboard, it’s easier than you think.
HIPPIE JUMP
This is a trick where the rider jumps above the board, leaving it on the ground to pass underneath the object that the rider is jumping over and then landing back on the board. This trick actually might be a little bit easier on these electric longboard because you just have more room to land on and the practice you can set up your own obstacles at whatever height you feel comfortable with this.
BONELESS
The boneless is a street trick where you grab the middle of the board with your hand, plant one foot on the ground to pop the board up and then land back on the ground with both feet on the board. Because an electric skateboard is way heavier than the standard skateboard, you are gonna have to do some adjustments with how much effort and where you place your feet on the board.
POP SHUVIT
The pop shuvit is a great way to show off your board control and get some air. It’s also one of the first advanced tricks that most skateboarders learn.
To do a pop shuvit, start by riding at a moderate speed and then pop the tail of your board down to the ground. As the tail hits, quickly slide your back foot off the trail and up onto the nose of the board. The front of the board will pop up into the air and rotate around 180 degrees. As it’s rotating, use your back foot to push off the nose and land back on the tail.
EARLY GRAB
This trick is exactly what it sounds like it's an aerial grab trick, where you grab the board early and you jump up to bring the board with you, you bend down and spring your weight upwards while holding onto the board to get a little bit of air. Obviously, it's gonna be a bit harder to do since the board is way heavier than your typical longboard or skateboard, but with some practice and maybe a little bit of time at the gym you will be soaring in no time a few inches off the ground.
KICKFLIP
This is the easiest flip trick that you can do because you are not doing a real kick flip. This trick is performed with your back leg while your front leg steps off the board and your back foot flips over and you land on the board with both feet. This trick is easy but in order to make it look good you got to do it in one fluid motion, otherwise it just it just looks dumb.
CONCLUSION
We hope this guide has helped you learn about electric skateboards and the tricks you can do on them. Remember to practice your tricks, be patient, and have fun!
